Campsites

So what makes a good campsite for us?

Everyone has different opinions on what makes a good campsite, their requirements will differ - The facilities they need, how they want to spend their time, what people they want to be around etc.

Our requirements for a good campsite differ depending on who we are with and the purpose of our trip. Certain friends have animals, others like live music, sometimes we like to explore the surroundings and sometimes we just want to sit in a field and chat.

Duration also influences our requirements. If we are there for one night our requirements are very different to if we are there for a week. In the winter things like firepits & electric become important to enable us to keep warm.  There are however three things that we consider important irrespective of the variables - toilets, freedom to pitch how we like & not too many rules.

Favourite Campsites

Unique, fun site with lots of quirky features that make it one of a kind. Sit alongside the Oxford canal on the outside sofas, the picnic tables or inside the barn and enjoy the food or drink from Trotters bar, The Trough café or the farm shop. Camping facilities are basic (portaloos & water from the bore hole) but it's all you need when camping along side the pigs, sheep & chickens.

Less than 2 miles from Bourton on the Water, surround by farmland and nature. Massive pitches with electric and water on each pitch. On site shop stocked lovely sausages and steaks from the local farm plus ice cream, drinks etc. Nice clean facilities with access to laundry room and fridge/freezer if required.

A lovely location surrounded by hills. There's a variety of colourful chickens wandering around and pigs located near the water tap.  Fresh eggs, home baked bread and sausages are available to buy all of which were lovely. Facilities include EHU, a toilet and running cold water plus a campers cupboard with fridge, kettle & microwave.

Surrounded by nature this basic campsite is a flat field with toilets, which is perfect for a few days away. A stunning location with alpacas, horses, owls and buzzards it's the ideal place to sit back and relax.
